Good Vibrations from Our Sports Injury Chiropractor

Vibrational Plate Training Incorporated Into Physical Therapy Treatment
If you have ever suffered any kind of sports injury, then you may already realize how a skilled sports injury chiropractor can aid in your physical therapy and recovery. Here at Fox Chiropractic we have always made physical therapy and sports injury treatment a key part of the services we offer, not only for athletes but for anyone trying to regain full functionality. We even have an advanced form of therapy that you may not know about — vibrational plate training.
How does it work? For the patient it works just like any normal exercise routine, except that you perform your exercises while standing on a metal plate. The metal plate vibrates at a very low frequency of 20 to 50 Hertz. As you exercise, the vibrations coming up through the plate stimulate your muscle groups and circulatory system, increasing the supply of blood and oxygen to your tissues. The muscles respond to the vibration by working just a little bit harder than they would if you were standing on an ordinary surface, and the extra blood flow helps the muscles recover more rapidly.
Westminster Rehab and Wellness Care
The benefits offered by vibrational plate training can make a big difference if you are rehabilitating a sports injury such as a torn ligament, a muscular sprain or strain, or surgery to repair a damaged joint. (The vibrations also make their way up the spinal column to relieve back and neck pain.) But these benefits can make just as big a difference for non-athletes on the mend from a personal injury or chronic medical condition. Vibrational plate training can even help perfectly healthy individuals as part of their ongoing wellness care, along with the nutritional counseling and other therapies we provide. So if you need a Westminster chiropractor, contact us to learn more about our good vibrations!

Is Spinal Decompression Therapy Right For You?
Posted on 2011-06-27 15:35:20
Spinal Decompression Therapy , Non-Surgical and Noninvasive
When problems with the spinal cord discs cause the spine to compress the nerves can become pinched, and this causes pain and sometimes immobility. Spinal decompression therapy is a non-surgical option to relieve your pain, free the pinched nerve and to straighten your spine.Spinal decompression therapy is a noninvasive form of therapy that requires daily treatment for about 30 days, each session lasting about 45 minutes, followed by ongoing chiropractic visits for your doctor to employ pressure and positioning techniques to nudge the injured disc back into place. This form of therapy has worked for thousands of people suffering from myriad back pain issues. You might be a candidate for this therapy if you suffer from chronic lower back pain, sciatica, neck pain, herniated or bulging discs, Facet syndrome or degenerative disc disease.
Spinal decompression therapy is performed in our office on a table specifically designed for this kind of therapy. Other treatment options such as electric stimulation and heat therapy may be used in your course of treatment.
The benefits of this therapy are many. Not only will you be able to live pain free, but you'll be walking straighter and you'll be able to perform tasks that you hadn't been able to because of the pain.

Are You Suffering from Whiplash?
Posted on 2011-05-03 10:06:03
During a car accident, your body is thrown forward and backward at great speed. During the collision, your torso will be thrown one way while your head is thrown in the opposite direction. Between the impact itself and your safety belt tightening to secure you, your head will be thrown forward violently, which can strain muscles and ligaments, cause tears within your spinal discs, irritate nerves and even cause brain injury. Whiplash occurs not just because of the over-extension of your spinal column, but because of the extreme force and rapidness of the event.
Unfortunately, whiplash cannot be diagnosed through x-rays. And, the injuries caused by whiplash can be unpredictable. The age and general health of the patient, the size of the vehicles and the nature and severity of the accident will all produce different injuries. Each patient will show different symptoms and require customized chiropractic treatment. There are three signs that are strong indicators that you have whiplash:
Neck, Shoulder and Upper Back Pain: This is the most common sign that you have suffered a whiplash injury. Often, you will experience much more pain the day after a car accident than you did the day it occurred. You may also feel stiff, or experience a reduced range of motion.
Light-headedness or Dizziness: This is another common symptom of whiplash. It is caused by a
bone being out of alignment. This can put pressure on nerves. Having even one bone out of place is enough to make you feel symptoms throughout your body.
Nausea: It is not uncommon to be queasy in the hours and days after a car accident. The nausea is usually caused by dizziness and light-headedness.
It is important to visit us at Fox Chiropractic as soon as possible after your accident to begin treatment. Our chiropractic office is convenient to the Lafayette, Westminster and Broomfield, CO areas.

deterrent to aches and pains. Like a good warm up before a sporting event, the main focus has always been to prepare you physically and mentally for the challenge ahead and that’s what we at Fox Chiropractic like to promote in your search for optimum health and wellness.Warming up before a sporting event might begin with a 5-10 minute light aerobic exercise routine since it’s not a good idea to stretch cold muscles. You should stretch the lower back, calves, hamstrings, quadriceps and neck holding each stretch for 15 to 30 seconds. Try not to bounce. Just stretch.
As you work on your stretching, you are also improving your cognitive skills and mental state. Mind and body working together forms a synergy that leads to athletic excellence and total well being. This is part of what makes up the underlying principles of Holistic medicine. The unification of mind, body and spirit as a whole is what we focus on when assembling your custom road map to health utopia and believe that this lifestyle can keep your aches and pains at their minimum if not nonexistent.
Your nutritional intake is also a factor to consider when putting together the ultimate health and wellness program. Fox Chiropractic can provide a structured nutritional program based on your individual needs and include this in your personal health portfolio. So come to Fox Chiropractic when you have aches and pains but remember we are not just about fixing what’s broken. Instead, we prepare you for a life of total wellness and blissful living.
